WAYNE COUNTY

The Information Center
20500 Eureka  Suite 110
Taylor MI  48180
734-282-7171
Services Offered:
The Information Center, Inc. is able to help, with the generous support of our donors, through two avenues.
Adopt-A-Family: Donors are supplied with the first names and the "wish list" of a local family.  The donors purchase gifts for the family and deliver them to TIC offices, where they are then distributed to the families.  This is the most rewarding way to support a family in need of a "hand-up" at the holidays.
Gift Certificates/Cash Donations:  Some donors prefer to purchase gift certificates to help a individual
or family meet a special need, or make a cash donation to The Center, who in turn, purchases gift certificates or gifts for individuals and families. The Center's trained staff thoroughly interviews each client to verify their need for help before distributing any form of assistance.  We also meet regularly
with other agencies to assure that there is no duplication of services.  If you are interested in helping
a local resident OR need assistance, please contact our office for more information.
Assistance is limited, so please contact us early if you require assistance for your family.

My name is Sequana, I am a single mother. I have 5children 15, 7, 6, 4, and 3. Just recently I lost my job, I applied for assitance only for them to allow me to keep it for 4months and then shut it off. It is really hard out here for me and my children. I have become very depressed due to my misfortune. If there is anyone who can steer me in the right direction I would be truly thankful. My children and I are still looking for thanksgiving baskets and it is just really sad for us this year.

Hi I am a single parent of wonderful 13 year old boy and a 12 year old girl that I love; however recently I had my niece and nephews move in with me due to their parent being incarcerated. I am only working part time and I am having trouble keeping my bills paid but I go without to make sure we have a roof over our heads. I am already struggling to provide for my own kids and now I just got 3 more to provide for. I have been online looking for programs that can help with Christmas for us, but I am having no luck. Angeltree is the program for incarcerated parents but their list closed in September. I want my niece and nephew to smile on Christmas and to be happy for atleast one day. If anyone out there can refer me to a program that can help or is willing to donate anything no matter how small please let me know. It will be greatly appreciated. Please keep me and my family in your thoughts and prayers.

I was online tonight looking for programs that could help with job assistance. I came across this sight when I punched in (programs that help with Christmas) I am a mother to 4 wonderful boys 12, 5, 4, 11mo I'm sure someone is reading this and saying well why so many if you cant afford it. Well I initially had just my 12yr ol. As a single mother I knew I couldn't have more. Then I was asked to take in my nephew who at the time was 4mo. I prayed about this for days and came to the conclusion that God would make away and took in my nephew who is now 5yrs old. Then was asked again when his brother was born. Me thinking I have to keep these kids together I took him in as well. I must say I don't regret it at all these boys have enriched my life. Our adoption was finalized this past year and I got the call to take the baby, He is now 11mo and the brightest child ever and super cute I must add. Any way I've been employed through this all and lost my job this past month due to downsizing I'm waiting on unemployment to see if I'm approved or not. I'm not asking or even expecting much I just want to see them smile on Christmas like they make me smile everyday. I have faith that I will get a job soon. Even if no responds to this I feel blessed to have been able to share my story and know Im not the only one out here with faith that something will give. Thanks for any thoughts and prayers.

I’m the sole provider of my 16yr old daughter. Her father past away last June. She is an amazing kid and holds a 3.5 grand point average. I’m on unemployment and its barley enough to pay rent and utilities and every month I have to figure out what is the most important bill to pay. She knows Christmas is not about gifts it’s about spending time and making memories with the ones we love. She had money saved up from past holidays and bought her school cloths and school supplies with since I didn’t have an income. I know she would be so happy to be able to have some things under the tree. I can’t even afford the simple things she asks for. I would be so grateful and when I got back on my feet I would pay it forward. It is very humbling asking for help as to in the past years I have been the ones helping others out.
